But in my opinion, as great as Joe is, Brad is just as good or better of a guitarist.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And he really shines in this band.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I have seen him 3 times with Aerosmith, and trust me, he shines there, too.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">But even more so in this band.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And Derek is still a really good singer, too.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Very soulful.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And he is also a really good guitarist in his own right.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">This was my first time seeing Derek.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I&#8217;m glad I finally did.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Their band includes drummer Brent Fitz, who has played with Billy Idol, and has been part of Slash&#8217;s band in recent years.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Their band also includes bassist Chopper Anderson and keyboardist Buck Johnson, who sang a medley of the Aerosmith classic Last Child, which Brad wrote.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And Johnson really did a great Steven Tyler impersonation, vocally.\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">It just so happens he plays for Aerosmith too.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Really cool set, but I just wish they would have had more time to play.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Check out their new album Reunion, which as a bonus, comes with their self titled debut album from the 80s, also.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">More about Whitford\/St. Holmes later on this review.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Stick around for it.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Now, to the headliner, Whitesnake!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">This was my 3rd time seeing them.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">This has always been lead singer David Coverdale&#8217;s group, and has had many great players with him throughout the years.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Especially right now.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">His band includes guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, the drumming machine Tommy Aldridge, and keyboardist Michele Luppi.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">The band did a very tight, loud, and rocking set of the band&#8217;s greatest hits.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">David Coverdale&#8217;s voice is still really strong and I could tell he was having a great time, interacting with the crowd and with the band.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I love seeing bands not &#8220;phone it in&#8221;, and I swear neither of these bands did.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Both had fun and gave the crowd everything they had.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">David Coverdale is a great frontman, very witty and funny, and again, such an amazing voice.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">When he was 20 or 21 years old (he&#8217;s 65 now), the legendary rock band Deep Purple, who along with David were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this year, hired him from nowhere and helped him launch his career.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">If you get a chance, check out the Deep Purple albums that David sings on: Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste The Band.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">In fact, Whitesnake put out a great album last year of some of David&#8217;s era of Deep Purple songs, called The Purple Album.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Check it out, too.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">In fact, check out all of David&#8217;s catalogue. He&#8217;s made a lot of great music.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I would go see Whitesnake again anytime.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">They&#8217;re always fun.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Check out this tour if you get a chance.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Oh and before I forget: I want to tell you about something cool that happened to me before the show.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">When I was about 10 minutes from the venue, I received a call from Whitford\/St. Holmes&#8217; tour manager about meeting them.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">You see, a few weeks before the show, and several months after I bought my ticket, I also bought a VIP package, in which I would be able to meet Whitford\/St. Holmes before the show.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Well again, their tour manager called me, and told me where to go, in which he would come and get me and take me to meet them.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Well, I showed up at the gate where all the band buses and trucks were located, I called him back saying I was there, and he came out saying they were having dinner, but that when they were ready to meet me, he would come and get me.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Well, shortly before I met them, I spotted Brad Whitford coming out of a tour bus, just walking around a little, and smoking a cigarette with the crew.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He was looking in my direction, but I figured I&#8217;d be respectful and leave him alone until I met him.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Well, a few minutes later, the tour manager comes and gets me and takes me to Brad and Derek&#8217;s tour bus, and lets me in to meet them.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Both Brad and Derek immediately greeted me and were very kind.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Brad asked me my name, and I told him my name.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And he said &#8220;great to meet you Lucas&#8221;, and shook my hand.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Derek did the same. Both signed their CDs for me that came with the VIP package, as well as a CD bonus track, and an 8&#215;10 pic.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I also got guitar picks in the package, and Derek also handed me one of his personal Ted Nugent guitar picks from 2013.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He jokingly told me to put it in my pocket real quick before someone else grabbed it.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Derek asked me where I was from, and I told him Ashland, Kentucky, and he said &#8220;I know where that is.&#8221;<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And, I got 5 pics with them!!!<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I thanked them for seeing me and I wished them a great show.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And they both thanked me and seemed very appreciative, which was great to see.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">So, if anyone wants to say that they&#8217;re jerks, think again.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">They&#8217;re both two genuinely good guys who love what they do and are great at it.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Very good experience.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">In fact, I want to do more VIP visits sometime. I was wondering what was going on for a second, because there were plenty of people there.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">But then I remembered that there was another part of the venue where the concert was happening.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">So yes, I had a Spinal Tap moment. Hahahaha!!! of Concert: June 14, 2016 Location of Concert: PNC Pavilion in Cincinnati, OH My concert summer continued Tuesday.\u00a0I went to Cincinnati again to see Whitesnake and the opener Whitford\/St. Holmes.\u00a0I&#8217;ll get to what happened before the show at the end, but first, I&#8217;ll tell you about the show.\u00a0Whitford\/St. Holmes (Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and Ted Nugent band singer\/guitarist Derek St. Holmes) started the show with a 30 minute rocking set of songs from their new album Reunion (they put out another album in the early 80s), and also played a medley of a couple Aerosmith\/Ted Nugent songs.\u00a0It was great to see Brad Whitford out front as guitarist, playing great as always, and even talking to the crowd.\u00a0In Aerosmith, Brad&#8217;s forever in the shadow of Joe Perry. But in my opinion, as great as Joe is, Brad is just as good or better of a guitarist.\u00a0And he really shines in this band.\u00a0I have seen him 3 times with Aerosmith, and trust me, he shines there, too.\u00a0But even more so in this band.\u00a0And Derek is still a really good singer, too.\u00a0Very soulful.\u00a0And he is also a really good guitarist in his own right.\u00a0This was my first time seeing Derek.\u00a0I&#8217;m glad I finally did.\u00a0Their band includes drummer Brent Fitz, who has played with Billy Idol, and has been part of Slash&#8217;s band in recent years.\u00a0Their band also includes bassist Chopper Anderson and keyboardist Buck Johnson, who sang a medley of the Aerosmith classic Last Child, which Brad wrote.\u00a0And Johnson really did a great Steven Tyler impersonation, vocally.\u00a0\u00a0It just so happens he plays for Aerosmith too.\u00a0Really cool set, but I just wish they would have had more time to play.\u00a0Check out their new album Reunion, which as a bonus, comes with their self titled debut album from the 80s, also.\u00a0More about Whitford\/St. Holmes later on this review.\u00a0Stick around for it.\u00a0Now, to the headliner, Whitesnake!!\u00a0This was my 3rd time seeing them.\u00a0This has always been lead singer David Coverdale&#8217;s group, and has had many great players with him throughout the years.\u00a0Especially right now.\u00a0His band includes guitarists Reb Beach and Joel Hoekstra, bassist Michael Devin, the drumming machine Tommy Aldridge, and keyboardist Michele Luppi.\u00a0The band did a very tight, loud, and rocking set of the band&#8217;s greatest hits.\u00a0David Coverdale&#8217;s voice is still really strong and I could tell he was having a great time, interacting with the crowd and with the band.\u00a0I love seeing bands not &#8220;phone it in&#8221;, and I swear neither of these bands did.\u00a0Both had fun and gave the crowd everything they had.\u00a0David Coverdale is a great frontman, very witty and funny, and again, such an amazing voice.\u00a0When he was 20 or 21 years old (he&#8217;s 65 now), the legendary rock band Deep Purple, who along with David were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame this year, hired him from nowhere and helped him launch his career.\u00a0If you get a chance, check out the Deep Purple albums that David sings on: Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste The Band.\u00a0In fact, Whitesnake put out a great album last year of some of David&#8217;s era of Deep Purple songs, called The Purple Album.\u00a0Check it out, too.\u00a0In fact, check out all of David&#8217;s catalogue. He&#8217;s made a lot of great music.\u00a0I would go see Whitesnake again anytime.\u00a0They&#8217;re always fun.\u00a0Check out this tour if you get a chance.\u00a0Oh and before I forget: I want to tell you about something cool that happened to me before the show.\u00a0When I was about 10 minutes from the venue, I received a call from Whitford\/St. Holmes&#8217; tour manager about meeting them.\u00a0You see, a few weeks before the show, and several months after I bought my ticket, I also bought a VIP package, in which I would be able to meet Whitford\/St. Holmes before the show.\u00a0Well again, their tour manager called me, and told me where to go, in which he would come and get me and take me to meet them.\u00a0Well, I showed up at the gate where all the band buses and trucks were located, I called him back saying I was there, and he came out saying they were having dinner, but that when they were ready to meet me, he would come and get me.\u00a0Well, shortly before I met them, I spotted Brad Whitford coming out of a tour bus, just walking around a little, and smoking a cigarette with the crew.\u00a0He was looking in my direction, but I figured I&#8217;d be respectful and leave him alone until I met him.\u00a0Well, a few minutes later, the tour manager comes and gets me and takes me to Brad and Derek&#8217;s tour bus, and lets me in to meet them.\u00a0Both Brad and Derek immediately greeted me and were very kind.\u00a0Brad asked me my name, and I told him my name.\u00a0And he said &#8220;great to meet you Lucas&#8221;, and shook my hand.\u00a0Derek did the same. Both signed their CDs for me that came with the VIP package, as well as a CD bonus track, and an 8&#215;10 pic.\u00a0I also got guitar picks in the package, and Derek also handed me one of his personal Ted Nugent guitar picks from 2013.\u00a0He jokingly told me to put it in my pocket real quick before someone else grabbed it.\u00a0Derek asked me where I was from, and I told him Ashland, Kentucky, and he said &#8220;I know where that is.&#8221;\u00a0And, I got 5 pics with them!!!\u00a0I thanked them for seeing me and I wished them a great show.\u00a0And they both thanked me and seemed very appreciative, which was great to see.\u00a0So, if anyone wants to say that they&#8217;re jerks, think again.\u00a0They&#8217;re both two genuinely good guys who love what they do and are great at it.\u00a0Very good experience.\u00a0In fact, I want to do more VIP visits sometime. I was wondering what was going on for a second, because there were plenty of people there.\u00a0But then I remembered that there was another part of the venue where the concert was happening.\u00a0So yes, I had a Spinal Tap moment.
