{"id":21021,"date":"2019-11-24T16:38:00","date_gmt":"2019-11-24T21:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diaryofanardentfan.com\/?p=21021"},"modified":"2023-09-22T16:44:46","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T21:44:46","slug":"my-galaxycon-2019-experience","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diaryofanardentfan.com\/index.php\/2019\/11\/24\/my-galaxycon-2019-experience\/","title":{"rendered":"My GalaxyCon 2019 Experience"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"21021\" class=\"elementor elementor-21021\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-9cc55ad elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default wpr-particle-no wpr-jarallax-no wpr-parallax-no wpr-sticky-section-no wpr-column-slider-no wpr-equal-height-no\" data-id=\"9cc55ad\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-3953638\" data-id=\"3953638\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-372a1c8 elementor-icon-list--layout-traditional elementor-list-item-link-full_width elementor-widget elementor-widget-icon-list\" data-id=\"372a1c8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"icon-list.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul class=\"elementor-icon-list-items\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-tv\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">Date of Event:  November 23, 2019<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"fas fa-tv\"><\/i>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\">Location of Event:  Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville, KY<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ceaac11 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ceaac11\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"xdj266r x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">I spent the day in Louisville, Kentucky at GalaxyCon Louisville.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I met wrestler\/actor Dave Bautista!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I\u2019ve been a fan of his since 2007 when I saw him wrestle The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23 (not in person unfortunately).<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He\u2019s now an actor, most famous these days for playing Drax in the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies and a few Avengers movies.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He\u2019s also starred in many other movies like Stuber (very funny), Blade Runner 2049, Marauders (very cool heist movie shot in Cincinnati), Escape Plan 2 and 3 (with Sylvester Stallone!!), Bushwick, and others.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He\u2019s a very cool guy.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I was able to ask him a question at his Q&amp;A (about Stuber) and he appreciated it.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He talked about upcoming movies, including one on Netflix, Dune remake, maybe a Gears Of War movie in a couple of years (once the script is truly ready he said).<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He said he probably won\u2019t do any more Avengers movies and probably not a Guardians 4 movie.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">This is because he\u2019s in his 50s now and physically he\u2019s not sure he\u2019s up for them.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">But he did say he wants to hopefully do the third one and \u201cfinish what he started with the cast and family he loves\u201d.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I had only seen him wrestle in person at a wrestling house show in 2008 (wrestling CM Punk), but had never met him. I\u2019m glad I did!!<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Love this guy!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I also met George Takei (Mr. Sulu of Star Trek) and got his autograph!!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He was the last surviving cast member of the original Star Trek that I needed to get an autograph from.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He was nice too but he jokingly gave me crap about my Star Trek shirt (that only shows William Shatner and Sir Patrick Stewart).<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He told me \u201cI\u2019m here right now. Those captains are only here in image\u201d.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I said I\u2019m sorry that I didn\u2019t have a Captain Sulu shirt. But again, it was all in good fun.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I also met wrestler Arn Anderson!!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">I\u2019ve been a fan of his for over 30 years.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">When I told him that, he didn\u2019t think I was old enough to be a fan of his for that long.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I also told him he was one of my favorite wrestling villains growing up, and that even when I hated him, I loved him. He said \u201cwell that means I did my job\u201d.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">And before I left him, I told him he is my favorite member of The 4 Horsemen, too. He said \u201cGood call\u201d.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I also met The Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno!!<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">That was very cool.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">He still looks to be in great shape.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I attended his Q&amp;A and he talked a lot about fitness, getting fit, and staying fit.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I seriously needed the motivation because I\u2019m soooo out of shape. I don\u2019t expect to look like a body builder, but I need to lose between 30-50 pounds. But anyway, it was great seeing Lou!!<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I didn\u2019t meet them but I went to the Q&amp;A of actors Cary Elwes and Chris Sarandon, who both starred in the movie The Princess Bride.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">That was a lot of fun. Lots of fun stories. Cary said that movie is the gift that keeps on giving.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I didn\u2019t meet them but I saw many other celebrities such as actor John Cusack, Star Trek The Next Generation actors Michael Dorn (Worf) Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher), Brent Spiner (Data, who I met in September in Cincinnati), Star Trek Deep Space Nine actors Terry Farrell (Dax) and Armin Shimerman (Quark), Brett Cullen (who recently starred in The Joker and many other movies), Wrestlers Ric Flair (who I\u2019ve met a few times), Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Christian (who I met earlier this year in Lexington), and Mark Henry, and others.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Very busy, but fun filled day.<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">I never have enough money for these events but I did ok.<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">One more event this year (National Lampoon\u2019s Christmas Vacation screening\/Live Chevy Chase Q&amp;A in Columbus, Ohio (I wanted to go to the Charleston, WV one, but it sold out).<\/div><\/div><div class=\"x11i5rnm xat24cr x1mh8g0r x1vvkbs xtlvy1s x126k92a\"><div dir=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/div><div dir=\"auto\">Then I may be done with events until March.<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-88054d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"88054d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div Dave Bautista!!\u00a0I\u2019ve been a fan of his since 2007 when I saw him wrestle The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23 (not in person unfortunately).\u00a0He\u2019s now an actor, most famous these days for playing Drax in the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies and a few Avengers movies.\u00a0He\u2019s also starred in many other movies like Stuber (very funny), Blade Runner 2049, Marauders (very cool heist movie shot in Cincinnati), Escape Plan 2 and 3 (with Sylvester Stallone!!), Bushwick, and others.\u00a0He\u2019s a very cool guy.\u00a0I was able to ask him a question at his Q&amp;A (about Stuber) and he appreciated it.\u00a0He talked about upcoming movies, including one on Netflix, Dune remake, maybe a Gears Of War movie in a couple of years (once the script is truly ready he said).\u00a0He said he probably won\u2019t do any more Avengers movies and probably not a Guardians 4 movie.\u00a0This is because he\u2019s in his 50s now and physically he\u2019s not sure he\u2019s up for them.\u00a0But he did say he wants to hopefully do the third one and \u201cfinish what he started with the cast and family he loves\u201d.\u00a0I had only seen him wrestle in person at a wrestling house show in 2008 (wrestling CM Punk), but had never met him. I\u2019m glad I did!!Love this guy!!\u00a0I also met George Takei (Mr. Sulu of Star Trek) and got his autograph!!!\u00a0He was the last surviving cast member of the original Star Trek that I needed to get an autograph from.\u00a0He was nice too but he jokingly gave me crap about my Star Trek shirt (that only shows William Shatner and Sir Patrick Stewart).\u00a0He told me \u201cI\u2019m here right now. Those captains are only here in image\u201d.\u00a0I said I\u2019m sorry that I didn\u2019t have a Captain Sulu shirt. But again, it was all in good fun.\u00a0I also met wrestler Arn Anderson!!!I\u2019ve been a fan of his for over 30 years.\u00a0When I told him that, he didn\u2019t think I was old enough to be a fan of his for that long.\u00a0I also told him he was one of my favorite wrestling villains growing up, and that even when I hated him, I loved him. He said \u201cwell that means I did my job\u201d.\u00a0And before I left him, I told him he is my favorite member of The 4 Horsemen, too. He said \u201cGood call\u201d.\u00a0I also met The Incredible Hulk himself, Lou Ferrigno!!\u00a0That was very cool.\u00a0He still looks to be in great shape.\u00a0I attended his Q&amp;A and he talked a lot about fitness, getting fit, and staying fit.\u00a0I seriously needed the motivation because I\u2019m soooo out of shape. I don\u2019t expect to look like a body builder, but I need to lose between 30-50 pounds. But anyway, it was great seeing Lou!!\u00a0I didn\u2019t meet them but I went to the Q&amp;A of actors Cary Elwes and Chris Sarandon, who both starred in the movie The Princess Bride.\u00a0That was a lot of fun. Lots of fun stories. Cary said that movie is the gift that keeps on giving.\u00a0I didn\u2019t meet them but I saw many other celebrities such as actor John Cusack, Star Trek The Next Generation actors Michael Dorn (Worf) Gates McFadden (Dr. Crusher), Brent Spiner (Data, who I met in September in Cincinnati), Star Trek Deep Space Nine actors Terry Farrell (Dax) and Armin Shimerman (Quark), Brett Cullen (who recently starred in The Joker and many other movies), Wrestlers Ric Flair (who I\u2019ve met a few times), Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Christian (who I met earlier this year in Lexington), and Mark Henry, and others.\u00a0Very busy, but fun filled day.\u00a0I never have enough money for these events but I did ok.\u00a0One more event this year (National Lampoon\u2019s Christmas Vacation screening\/Live Chevy Chase Q&amp;A in Columbus, Ohio (I wanted to go to the Charleston, WV one, but it sold out).\u00a0Then I may be done with events until March.
