My Van Halen Discography Rankings
Van Halen is another one of my favorite bands of all time, especially the years with singer David Lee Roth.
Guitarist Edward Van Halen (RIP) is one of the great guitar players for all time.
The rhythm section of bassist Michael Anthony (later Wolfgang Van Halen) and drummer Alex Van Halen was always great.
When I heard their song Runnin’ With The Devil, I was hooked.
Their first album will always be my favorite album of theirs and my favorite debut album from anyone.
I think their discography is great, especially the Dave years.
I prefer his eras because I think the band rocks more with him and are more fun.
But I do really like the albums with singer Sammy Hagar also, and even most of the one album with singer Gary Cherone.
But the Dave ones are THE ONES for me.
This one is not as tough for me, so here it goes.
- Van Halen
- Van Halen II
- Fair Warning
- The Best of Van Halen Volume 1 (compilation featuring one Sammy era song originally from a soundtrack and 2 new songs with Dave back as their singer. I love those 2 songs sooooooooooooo much that I rank those two songs this high up on the list.)
- 1984
- Women And Children First
- A Different Kind Of Truth
- Diver Down
- Tokyo Dome Live In Concert
- 5150
- For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge
- OU812
- Balance
- Van Halen 3
- The Best Of Both Worlds (compilation featuring 3 new songs with Sammy on vocals)
- Live Right Here Right Now
There you have it. One of the best bands ever, in my opinion.
I’m very partial to the Dave years, but the Sammy stuff overall is great and I really like most of VH3 with Gary Cherone.
