My Ranking of Megadeth’s Discography

Megadeth are another huge favorite of mine.

I’ve been a fan since I was a teenager, which is when I became a fan of many of the bands/artists I am ranking on this website.

Dave Mustaine (vocals/guitar/songwriter/co-producer) has had many lineups, but he’s always picked great musicians to bring his musical vision to life.

And as I much as I love Metallica, I think Megadeth have probably been more consistently great with their discography.

Here is my ranking of their albums.

  1. Rust In Peace
  2. Countdown To Extinction
  3. Risk
  4. Cryptic Writings
  5. The World Needs A Hero
  6. The System Has Failed
  7. United Abominations
  8. Megadeth (2026)
  9. Endgame
  10. Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good
  11. Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying
  12. Super Collider
  13. Dystopia
  14. The Sick, The Dying…And The Dead
  15. Youthanasia
  16. Thirteen (Th1rt3en)
  17. So Far, So Good…So What!
  18. Hidden Treasures
  19. Rude Awakening
  20. Capitol Punishment (compilation with 2 new songs)
  21. The Big Four:  Live From Sulfia, Bulgaria (Live album/DVD set with Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax)
  22. That One Night:  Live In Buenos Aires
  23. Rust In Peace Live
  24. Countdown To Extinction Live
  25. MD. 45  The Craving (a side project Dave did in the 1990s.  There are two versions.  One with singer Lee Ving and the other Dave re-did the vocals.)

I will always be a Megadeth fan.  Dave Mustaine is a phenomenal musician and songwriter.  His voice is not for everyone, but I like it and it’s perfect for his songs.

Rattlehead!!!  If you’re a fan, you get it.
