Metal On Metal and Rock Comedy: Anvil/Don Jamieson/Pulsifier Concert Review
- Date of Concert: Saturday, May 10, 2025
- Location of Concert: The Machine Shop in Flint, MI
I’m not going to many concerts in 2025, but I could not miss this one.
Anvil w/comedian Don Jamieson, and newer band Pulsifier at a cool club/bar called The Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan.
Pulsifier started the show with a solid, rocking set.
This band includes singer MeA, guitarist Christopher Skehan, bassist Patrick Ouellette, and drummer Jay Allen Grant.
They’ve only been around since 2023, but I think they have a strong, promising future.
We need more new good rock bands and they are one of them.
Seek them out.
After Pulsifier ended, comedian Don Jamieson did a 30 minute standup routine.
Don is also known as one of the hosts of VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show.
Don was very funny, and even bagged on me a couple of times.
Hey, you have to expect that from a comedian, so it was OK.
Plus, when I met him after his set, he just said he was busting my chops and appreciated my being a fan of his. He also signed his CDs that I bought from him and the ones I brought with me and took pictures with me.
His jokes were mostly rock related, and was very funny.
I shot some of his set (video below), so please check it out.
Thank you Don for the laughs and for your kindness.
The great Canadian Metal band Anvil ended the night with a PHENOMENAL show.
Singer/guitarist Steve “Lips” Kudlow, drummer Robb Reiner, and bassist Chris “Christ” Robertson are all great at what they do and just kick butt!!
They all seemed to be having fun and so were the audience.
Lots of old songs and some new/newer songs and they all sounded great.
Thank you guys for all the amazing albums (I can’t wait for more.), for the great show, and for your kindness too.
I met Lips and Robb after the show and I appreciate them taking the time to talk to us fans.
I actually spoke at length with Robb’s wife Jane before the show about a lot of things. She handles Anvil’s merch and is a super nice person. Thank you so much Jane for talking to me.
Also, before the show, since I was in Flint, Michigan, I went to see the so called Grand Funk Railroad bridge near the venue.
This particular bridge was graffitied with the names of the band members of Grand Funk Railroad, as well as the name of the band, back in the 70s and is still there today.
As a Grand Funk fan, I could not resist driving by and looking at it.
I don’t know how many more shows I have left in me, but I’m really glad I got to see this one.
So much fun.
Rock on guys!!
