Lucas at a Festival: My Louder Than Life 2022 Concert Experience

I went to the Saturday portion of Louder Than Life 2022.
I did not see everyone, but saw many of the bands/artists that played.

Airbourne were the first band I saw that day.

They remind me of AC/DC. Just really good basic rock.

I only saw a bit of Bloodywood but I liked them.

The Alive is a younger rock band but are pretty solid.

Pop Evil are alright but I’m not a big fan.

Sevendust I’ve been a fan of for more than 20 but has not seen them since 2009. They’ve always been a solid band.

Jerry Cantrell, guitarist/songwriter/singer/leader of Alice In Chains, who are playing Sunday at Louder Than Life, I’ve also been a fan of for more than 20 years.

I’ve always said AIC is my favorite of the so called Grunge bands.

And Jerry is a big reason for that.

I’d seen AIC before (loudest show I’ve ever seen) but had not seen him solo. He played a mixture of solo and AIC songs.

Chevelle I had been aware of for many years but had not really listened to them much. But I enjoyed their set and intend to check out more of their stuff.

Alice Cooper is one of my favorites!

Aside from KISS, I’ve seen Alice almost as many times.

And aside from his first two albums, most of his albums are amazing.

He’s still making great albums and live, he’s always been impeccable.

I also saw Ice-T’s band Body Count, Rob Zombie (only saw a bit of his set because I was watching Body Count) and KISS (my 10th time seeing them).

Seeing all of these acts was great but for me Body Count and KISS made me the happiest.

Alice too, especially since his former guitarist Kane Roberts is back (Edit:  he only was back for a few months then guitarist Nita Strauss returned), but Body Count and KISS MOST especially.

Body Count I’ve wanted to see for the last few years.

They’re amazing!!! Last two albums are masterpieces and I can’t wait to buy the next one.

KISS, for anyone who doesn’t know, are my favorite band period.

    All albums and all lineups.

    No apologies.

They always make me feel like I’m 16 again.

They never let me down musically.

And aside from The Rolling Stones, who I’ve loved since I was a kid, they are the best band I’ll ever see in concert.

It was a long day, but a rocking, fun day too.

Bourbon And Beyond Sunday Portion: Seeing The Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald Together!!!

What a show at Bourbon and Beyond Sunday

I wasn’t there all day, but what I saw was great.

I saw a little bit of Yola’s set, saw Needtobreathe, Marcus King, who is phenomenal, Caamp, The Doobie Brothers (my main reason for going), and Chris Stapleton (only saw 7 songs because I needed to leave to get home for work Monday).

What I saw of Chris was great of course. I see why he’s super popular, but again, I went to this to see The Doobie Brothers.

They’re one of my favorites. Tom Johnston, Pat Simmons, John McFee, and the return of Michael McDonald!!!

I’d seen them twice before and I’d seen Michael McDonald solo once but I had never seen him with them.

I love all their music but I really love his era especially.

    They still sound amazing.

So wonderful to see them still putting out new music (new album is called Liberte) and what can I say? I love the band so much.

Holy cow what a concert. I finally saw Duran Duran

At Wonderbus Music & Arts Festival in Columbus, Ohio.

They still sound as great as they always have.

Classic members Simon Le Bon (vocals), Nick Rhodes (keyboards), John Taylor (bass) and Roger Taylor (drums-no relation to John or Roger Taylor of Queen), along with their other great musicians and backing singers put on quite a show.

Lots of classics, some new songs, lots of visuals, and just a great live sound.

    These guys are awesome!!

I’m very glad I got to see them.

The openers, Tayls, Daisy The Great, and Cannons were all quite good too.

Two Bands, Both Rocked!!: Sammy Hagar And The Circle/George Thorogood & The Destroyers Concert Review

    What a great concert.

George Thorogood & The Destroyers rocked the house for an hour and Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham, and Vic Johnson really rocked for about 90 minutes.

So many great songs from both acts (Michael even sang a bunch, including a David Lee Roth era Van Halen song.).

George and his band are all still great.

Sammy is still a phenomenal singer and great guitarist too.

Jason is one of my favorite drummers.

Vic can play anything on guitar.

And Michael is massively underrated as a bassist and singer.

Also, Sammy signs everything fans throw at him or hand to him.

And he’ll put clothing on that fans give him and he signs those too and gives them back.

    Awesome stuff.

I’m glad I was able to see this.

    Concerts are my favorite hobby.

Music is a necessity in my life.

    I genuinely need it.

Rock Me All Night!: Great White & Slaughter Concert Review

Thanks to my friend Brandon Lange I was able to see Great White & Slaughter in Ashland, Kentucky Friday night.

    Both bands were phenomenal.

Slaughter came on first and were sooooo loud, full of energy, and in your face. Gosh they are so heavy live.

This was my second time seeing them and like the first time, they did not disappoint.

I told Brandon it was going to be tough for Great White [Band] to top Slaughter, but I think they did.

    This band is soooooooooooooo great.

Mark Kendall is one of my favorite guitarists, new singer

Andrew Freeman does a phenomenal job singing these classic songs, and the whole band is just solid and right (Edit:  Andrew soon after this left the band because of his continued commitment to the band Last In Line and Brett Carlisle became the new singer).

Please both bands: make more new albums. Please?! I’ll buy them I promise.

Thank you everyone for all the birthday wishes.

I had a great day listening to music and I went and saw Greta Van Fleet RIVAL SONS and The Velveteers in Cincinnati.

    All were very good.

Greta is definitely the real deal.

They get compared to Led Zeppelin a lot but ultimately I think they sound like a 70s band period, which is great.

All the musicianship and the vocals are stellar.

They have a great stage show.

They expand on some of their songs live and jam on them.

They got it all.  Oh and most of them are brothers so they’ve known each other their whole lives.

Again, they are the real deal!!!!

Rival Sons has been around awhile but they’re great too.

Singer Jay Buchanan sounds a lot like Paul Rodgers but still has his own voice.

They’re just a great rock band.

The Velveteers have a lot of energy and sound really good too.

    Really great show.

Rockin’ In America: Night Ranger Concert Review

Mariah Startzman and I had a great time seeing Night Ranger in Wilmington, Ohio Saturday night.

They played a solid 90 minutes and put on a fun rocking show.

    Such a great time.

Honestly, I was very late to their music.

Sure I knew Sister Christian, Don’t Tell Me You Love Me, and a few other songs, and as much as I respected the guys’ talents, I just was not impressed with their music.

Well happily, my mind was changed.

They really are a great band and kick maximum butt.

They’ve been around a long time and are as great as ever, still mostly the original members, and still putting out great new music (latest album ATBPO is awesome).

Feel The Noize of the Train Train: Quiet Riot and Blackfoot Concert Review

I went to another PHENOMENAL concert.

Blackfoot is a famous southern rock band from the 70s that now Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Rickey Medlocke used to be the singer/guitarist/leader of it.

Since he’s so busy with Skynyrd, Medlocke, who owns the name Blackfoot, for the last several years, has hired new musicians to carry on the band and music.

The guys he has put together for this incarnation of the band are AMAZING!!

Lead singer Kenny Lawrence, lead guitarist Drew Spencer, lead guitarist Stuart McConnell, bassist Chief Spires, and drummer Dave Somerville.

Usually, I would not like something like this but in this instance, I love it.

The band is great. The songs are great. That’s good enough for me.

And they do have a new album coming so I’m excited about that.

I was able to shake the singer Kenny’s hand. Very cool!!

Go see them if you get a chance.

You won’t regret it (Edit:  Since this writing, this iteration of Blackfoot is no more and Rickey Medlocke, who again owns the band name, may be performing Blackfoot songs with his own band in 2024).

Now to Quiet Riot. The band consists of lead singer Jizzy Pearl, guitarist Alex Grossi, returning bassist Rudy Sarzo and drummer Johnny Kelly.

Kevin Dubrow and Frankie Banali will always be missed but this band still kicks butt and delivers the goods.

I still support them and I’ll continue to.

Thank you guys for keeping the music alive.

I live for nights like this.

    Live & Unzoomed: Styx/REO Speedwagon/Loverboy Concert Review

    Holy cow what a concert!

Styx and REO Speedwagon with Loverboy: Live and UnZoomed

    My favorite venue.

    All three bands were PHENOMENAL!!

This was the first time I saw Loverboy.

    Still mostly the original lineup.

Still at the top of their game.

Great way to start the show.

REO Speedwagon was next. This was the second time I saw them, although the first time I saw their whole set (I had to unfortunately leave early the first time).

But still, they are phenomenal as well.

Singer Kevin Cronin is 70 now and still moves around like he’s a kid and has a ton of enthusiasm.

And his voice is still as phenomenal as ever.

    Great song after great song.

Styx closed the show. My third time seeing the band (also have seen former singer/keyboardist Dennis DeYoung in concert once, who is still phenomenal too!!).

Singer/Guitarist Tommy Shaw still has his awesome voice and the whole band is soooo tight.

Always great seeing original bassist Chuck Panozzo too.

Singer/Guitarist James “JY” Young is the MAN!

And they’re still making great albums.

The Mission and Crash Of The Crown are their newest albums and both are yes
    PHENOMENAL!!!!

I had such a great time at this show.

    I’m not done yet.
